Resolved Question: Why does my Broadband connection speed differ so wildly?

Sometimes it connects at just over 5, and on other occasions, it's as low as 3.5. There doesn't seem to be a noticeable difference in operational speed but why is this happening? Okay - I connect via a BT Voyager 105 Modem from my basic BT phoneline. We are in the South West (back of beyond, next stop Canada and all that) I'm taking this info. from the notice that comes up everytime I log on. It definitely seems to be better in the morning.
